Skill Level Descriptors provide a common scale for interpreting test results. The scale has been
veri昀椀ed on nearly 昀椀ve million adults and youth. Descriptors display the relationship of CASAS test
scores to NRS Educational Functioning Levels. Skill areas include reading, math, listening, speaking,
and writing.
Scale Scores NRS Educational Functioning Levels and Grade Levels
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) requires states to report performance
outcomes to monitor program performance. For states to meet these requirements, local programs
use CASAS standardized assessments to collect and report data on learning gains.
